15 Important Life Lessons We Learned From South Park

5. If Your Dream Is To Be Famous, Prepare To Be Ridiculed

The opening scroll reads: All celebrity voices are impersonated€. poorly. Not just in Parker and Stone€™s crude imitations, but in their poor representations. No celebrity is safe (especially Barbara Steisand), but perhaps its best illustrated in Gay Fish, if just because South Park€™s later seasons often feature celebrities who've become famous within the show's lifetime. Jimmy and (kind of but not really) Cartman create a joke that takes the world by storm. Do you like fish sticks? Yeah, you€™re a gay fish. The one celebrity who can€™t take the joke is Kanye West, as he takes himself and his fame far too seriously. It results in him facing facts and ultimately taking on his new life as a gay fish just because he has no sense of humour. We may all dream of being famous and well respected for what we like best, but we must take future critiques in good humour. There€™s no censorship machine like in 200 and 201 nor would it be a good world with one.
