Tony Almeida was one of the few people Jack Bauer could trust throughout 24, until he was murdered in season five. That’s until season seven, where it turned out his death wasn't all that severe. Sadly he turned evil that year too and was last seen being dragged away to presumably spent the rest of his days in a cell.

Since 24: Legacy will be the first season without Kiefer Sutherland onboard, the show had to bring back another familiar face instead, hence the return of Almeida. It hasn’t been revealed exactly how he’ll figure into the plot, which finds a new agent in a race against time to stop a terrorist threat, but trailers have hinted he’ll be on the side of good; at least for a while.

It’ll also just be good to see the character again, who wasn't given a sense of closure last time.
