15 Star Trek Deaths That Didn't Last

8. Trip Tucker - These Are The Voyages

Why include this one? Surely Trip died at the end of the final episode of Enterprise and therefore didn't come back?

Well, yes and no. Trip is a great example of where Alpha canon and Beta canon come into play (books, Online etc).

Killed off in the uneven and generally disliked These are the Voyages, Tucker's death was nearly as barely registered in impact as Tasha Yar's from Skin of Evil. But something bigger came out of it because Conner Trinneer's Chief Engineer did return... in the literary universe.

The expanded Star Trek footprint has offered up a lot of returns including Shatner's desire to resurrect Kirk. With Trip it's an occasion where something that canon Trek messed up a little to get fixed at least in one reality.

His return in the Rise of the Federation series intertwines with the work of Section 31 and paints up a much broader picture of Tucker than we ever got in the series. Tucker went on to become a key player during the Romulan Wars of the 2150's deep undercover once his mission to sabotage their development of the warp 7 engine was complete.

Eventually he would return to Federation space and continue working for Section 31 and recoup his relationship with T'Pol.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
