15 Star Trek LEGO Sets Everyone Wants

13. Borg Cube

As if their ships weren't designed by the Intergalactic Division of Lego in the first place, the Borg's distinct craft demands attention in brick form.

A ship that could work in a multitude of scales, from the vast down to the space filler on your Trek shelves, it's a chance for The Lego Group's designers to metaphorically knock themselves out. Beyond the basic cube sub-frame, the surface detail could be cluttered with Star Trek Easter Eggs among the greebles of its surface. There are also two potential avenues here. A smaller scale version would suit "just" being a cube, but a larger edition would have to have the docking port for the Borg Queen's sphere and some form of cog mechanism to open the doors.

The next step is to go full Artefact from Picard; however, that's going to offer up a lot of internal detail that will push the price right up. What's to say that, as with our potential NCC-1701, there couldn't be a clip-out section to show Borg regeneration chambers and the Queen's room? It would provide more depth to the build without question.

As this would need a legion of Borg for the regeneration chambers, there would need to be at least six in the set, echoing different versions of their history from Q Who?, through The Best of Both Worlds and into First Contact, Voyager and Picard. Slot in an Alice Krige Borg Queen, a Hugh and a Seven and this would make for an almost concrete hit on the Lego shelves.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
