15 Times Rick And Morty Was The Best Show On Television
1. Come Watch TV?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_qvy82U4REAny other show would probably completely abandon the idea that Rick and Morty buried other versions of themselves, but this episode tackles it head on, examining the impact that had on Morty's psyche even several episodes later.
Morty gives this amazing speech to Summer, and Harmon and Roiland allow things to get serious. To put things in perspective for her, he points to his grave outside, telling her that every morning he eats breakfast 20 yards away from his own rotting corpse.
"Nobody exists on purpose. Nobody belongs anywhere. Everybody's gonna die. Come watch TV?"
This is the scene that really shows why Rick and Morty is something special. It's not all just about the goofy alternate dimensions and crazy alien creatures. It cares about these characters, and it allows all the dark places they go to to have a real affect on their mindset.
Harmon and Roiland conclude that the universe is a messed up place and might completely lack meaning, but there's still joy to be found in all the insanity.
