3. Cold Lazarus

Dollhouse TV
BBC One

In a far off future, a team of cryogenic scientists are tasked with reviving the frozen brain of an eminent writer. As the project progresses they begin to have doubts as to the morality of the task they've been given.

The future setting of Cold Lazarus is one that feels uncomfortably close to home in 2020. Much of life is undertaken virtually and society is controlled by powerful commercial organisations.

The affecting four-part story, one of the last to be written by Dennis Potter, slowly draws you in as the scientists engage emphatically in their work. Their realisation of the consequences of the decisions they've made result in a morally hard-hitting payoff.

Cold Lazarus is slow burn sci-fi at its best and for UK fans, it's currently on All4.
