20 Best Superman TV Episodes Of All Time
12. "Foundling" - Lois And Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman
In "Foundling", Lois and Clark presents its version of Superman with the revelations about Krypton's final moments. For the first time, Superman is able to learn about why Jor-El and Lara sent him in a ship to Earth.
But what is so fantastic about this is the way the information is fed to our hero.
After having found the globe in the series' second episode, he finally discovers its purpose and finds a series of messages from Jor-El. It all seems great until it's stolen by a teenager who, of course, turns around and sells it to Lex Luthor. It's reminiscent of a scene from Superman #2 from 1987, where Lex used a computer to deduce the Man of Steel's identity, only to reject the idea as preposterous.
In "Foundling", Lex discovers that Superman has been on Earth since he was a child. Meanwhile, there's a sort of Sherlock/Moriarty vibe to the whole affair. Superman and Lex never have any sort of face-to-face confrontation the entire episode, but it adds a sense of weight that might have been lost had they had some sort of fight over the globe.
