Bertie Carvel's career has really broken out this year, thanks to his role as charismatic magician Strange in BBC One's fantasy drama Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. Some fans are even mooting him as a potential next Doctor. Years ago, however, Carvel already appeared in Doctor Who, in the episode The Lazarus Experiment. He can be seen in the minor role of a mysterious man working for Mr Saxon (really the Master) who turns Martha Jones' mother, Francine, against the Doctor. In 2010 he appeared in Sherlock's The Blind Banker as Sebastian Wilkes, a city banker and university chum of Sherlock's who hires the detective to investigate a break-in at his bank.
