20 Doctor Who Actors Who Appeared in Sherlock

3. Wanda Ventham

Despite enjoying a long and distinguished career on British screens, including playing Cassandra's mum on Only Fools And Horses, Wanda Ventham is best known today for a different kind of role - being the mother of Benedict Cumberbatch. Mother Cumberbatch was actually a recurring figure throughout the classic series of Doctor Who, acting opposite Doctors Two, Four and Seven, with her roles including a villain and an alien. While she hasn't made an appearance in the modern series, she has of course appeared in Sherlock. Naturally, she played Sherlock's mother, alongside her husband Timothy Carlton as his father, both of whom were introduced in Series Three of the show and can presumably be expected to appear in future episodes.
