But what if Estelle wasn’t dead? Down on her luck (and down to her last two clients) and probably in significant debt from her chainsmoking habit alone, what better way to start over than faking her death?

In Starmaker, Estelle heads to Hollywood and establishes herself as an agent by masquerading as her more successful (but fictitious) twin sister Esther, thereby enabling herself to cash in on Estelle’s contacts in the industry while avoiding Estelle’s dodgy reputation.

Having quit smoking, ‘Esther’ is desperate for nicotine, often going to outrageous lengths to get a puff of a cigarette or some secondhand smoke. In the bright, shallow, fake world of LA her caustic New York personality makes her a novelty.... but can it make her a starmaker?

And can she avoid bumping into anyone who might actually know her - like a certain Joey Tribbiani?
