1. Russell T Davies' Revival Had Competition

Whilst Russell T Davies successfully revived Doctor Who in 2005, the show could have returned very differently. Dan Freedman reportedly touted a more fantasy retelling of Doctor Who, whilst Matthew Graham (who has penned two abysmal tales) would have seen Doctor Who infused heavily with elements of the gothic. Most interestingly, Mark Gatiss wanted to reboot the show in which the Doctor would have taken on the audience surrogate role, rather than the companion.
