20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Sherlock

8. There's A Massive (And Obscure) Bond Reference

Remember the hint at a bigger link to James Bond from earlier? Well here's the pay-off to that tease. In A Scandal In Belgravia the MoD plan to dupe some terrorists using a plane full of corpses. It's pretty morbid, but does offer some first-rate Bond nods. The flight number is 007, while, according to Mycroft, the plan (or airline itself), is called Bond Air; he is heard saying "Bond Air is go." If that all seems a little random, the inspiration for the scene may explain it; it's a reference to a deleted scene from On Her Majesty's Secret Service where Q and Bond discuss a train full of corpses. And you thought it was just the references to the Sherlock Holmes books that were obscure.
