20 TV Acting Performances That Are Totally Flawless

9. Kyle MacLachlan - Twin Peaks

Tony Soprano The Sopranos
ABC

Twin Peaks was one of the best and most original TV shows ever created. Straight out the mind of the brilliant David Lynch, the show constantly defied genre conventions and revelled in its frequently insane plot twists and bizarre host of characters.

Amongst the show's most memorable and iconic aspects is Kyle MacLachlan, who throughout the show's three seasons (including the 2017 revival) played FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper with eccentric glee, lovable innocence and subtle intensity.

In a show populated by some of TV's strangest characters, Cooper was something else entirely. He was odd but noble, stern but playful, and honest but kind. Without him guiding the show forward, it's likely Twin Peaks would have been buried by its simply absurd premise, since he added such decency and relative normality to the show's most insane moments.

MacLachlan has always shone as a brilliant, scene-stealing actor, but he's never been better than he was in David Lynch's masterpiece.
