20 TV Characters Who Deserve Their Own Spin-Off

4. Cake Boss (Comedy Bang Bang)

cakeboss IFC's Comedy Bang Bang, essentially itself a spin-off of the comedy podcast of the same name, turns late-night talk shows on their heads in a way that hasn't been done since The Larry Sanders Show. Its host, comedian and writer Scott Aukerman (Hot Saucerman), invites a series of real-life and fictional characters on his program to create some of the most absurd comedy ever filmed. One of his most famous guests is the Cake Boss, Buddy Valastro. Portrayed by stand-up superstar Paul F. Tompkins, the Cake Boss is really only a slightly exaggerated version of the actual reality TV star. Buddy is a man who constantly repeats the phrase "cake boss" (cake boss!) when it is spoken. And, unfortunately for him, he has the gift-slash-curse of having been bitten by a cake-bug, which rarely bite humans but do grant the power of the second-sight. If only the real TLC program with the real-life Cake Boss contained moments in which its host was able to see into the future and witness the death of television hosts, merely for saying that they like pie better than cake.
