In Army Of Ghosts, the focus of Torchwood's stash of alien gadgets is on the Jathaa Sunglider, the Particle Gun, and the Magna-Clamps. But theres one artefact just sitting in the warehouse thats more interesting than those three put together. Though nowhere near as plot relevant. In a blink and youll miss it cameo, the sarcophagus leading to Sutekh The Destroyers prison from 1975s Pyramids Of Mars (or at least one thats uncannily similar to it) appears next to the Tardis when Rose tries to infiltrate Torchwood. Although its never addressed at any point, given that Torchwoods motto is If its alien its ours, its safe to assume that they werent holding it as a historical artefact.
13. Mix And Match Monsters The Rings Of Akhaten
Despite its mixed reviews, The Rings Of Akhaten holds the distinction of having the most alien extras in any Doctor Who episode. The scenes at both the alien bazaar and the offering to the Old God are teeming with alien life, none of which are aliens that have been prominently featured before. Well not quite. To keep costs low; as well as grabbing some of the background costumes out of storage and including a few near-human characters, some of the aliens are a combination of costume elements from previous characters. Like this handsome chap who is a mix of a Hoixs head (Love And Monsters), a Haths breath mask (The Doctor's daughter), and an Oods tentacles.
