22 Doctor Who Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed

12. International Electromatics €“ Rise Of The Cybermen

It€™s pretty hard to miss this one since it€™s both mentioned in dialogue and staring you in the face in some shots but the obscurity of the reference certainly qualifies it as an Easter Egg. In Pete€™s World, Cybus Industries uses International Electromatics as a dummy company to hide the mass abduction of the homeless that it is using to build its army of Cybermen. The name drop of International Electromatics in Series 2 was an homage to the 1968 story The Invasion where it was a consumer electronics company run by Tobias Vaughn, a businessman colluding with the Cybermen and assisting their invasion of Earth in exchange for him becoming its ruler after their takeover was complete.

11. Here It Is, Merry Christmas €“ Various Episodes

One of the most common things you€™ll hear at Christmas (apart from constant arguing over Christmas Dinner) is Slade€™s 1973 hit €œMerry Xmas Everyone€. It€™s everywhere. Even in Doctor Who. The three Christmas Specials predominantly set on present day Earth, Turn Left, and The Power Of Three all feature scenes that have €œMerry Xmas Everyone€ playing in the background at some point; usually at the very start. Although you barely notice it (maybe we€™re just desensitised to it after forty-one years), it€™s always there as a subtle mood setter thanks to it being so instantly recognisable. And because of that, it€™s quickly become as big a part of Doctor Who Christmas episodes as alien invasion and violent death.
