5 Returning TV Shows That Improved This Season and 5 That Got Worse

3. Dexter Season 7

Although Dexter Season 6 wasn't half as bad as people would have you believe, Season 6 was one of the worst seasons of the show (along with season 3). During season 6, I was beginning to lose interest in the show and if I am completely honest was wishing for it to end. After the cliffhanger of season 6 however, when Deb found Dexter just after he stabbed Doomsday in the heart, my interest perked up once again. Season 7 has been surprisingly strong because it focused on the only real interesting thing Dexter has going for it anymore; the relationship between Deb and Dexter- the heart of the show. Season 6 messed things up a little with the incest storyline, but I have been pleased to see this element featured much less in this season (though they still for some reason won't let it die). That said, although I think this season is the strongest season since Season 2 (yes, I didn't really care for Season 4), I have to say I wasn't all that interested by the Big Bad, which is good then that they decided to kill him off early on. Season 7's cliffhanger is also the most shocked and excited I have been by a show since Walter poisoned that kid at the end of Breaking Bad's 4th Season. That said, I still think Deb deserved better and now there is almost no character left on Dexter left to root for. At least with Breaking Bad I still have Jesse. I am also not convinced that Deb would have reacted the way she did in the finale, but maybe Season 8 (which is hopefully the last season) can help change my mind.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
