In her vendetta against her ex-husband, who she took ownership of the club from in the divorce, she deliberately hires Ted so that the team would tank. What she doesn't expect is for Ted's love to be so infectious that she is redeemed by his kindness. Even when she knows she should be chastised by him for her actions, Ted just isn't that person.
