Many will make the argument for Mike Ehrmantraut, which is a brilliant argument to make when it comes to late characters in Breaking Bad. However, he is just pipped to the post by Saul Goodman.

Saul was everything that didn't and did belong in Breaking Bad, he wasn't violent, he had no grand drug empire but he was sleazy and slippery when it came to avoiding the law. The first season of Breaking Bad was terrific, nobody would question that, however, it just didn't have the same magnitude until people like Saul and Mike arrived.

Saul wasn't more of the same in terms of him being an accomplice to Walt & Jesse, he had a whole different level of expertise that rounded out the Breaking Bad universe and connected all the dots in ways that the audience couldn't even imagine until they'd seen it.

After all, it was Saul who had the number of the vacuum repairman and it was Saul that introduced Walt to Gus. Breaking Bad just wouldn't have been the same without him.

Bob Odenkirk got his spin-off that equalled the genius of Breaking Bad, which is evidence of just how much Saul Goodman's actions led everybody to their fate.
