7 TV Shows With Disappointing Second Seasons

Often well regarded as one of modern television’s most thrilling shows, The Walking Dead had a surprisingly hard time finding its way during the early seasons. After a short (just 6 episodes) but highly-entertaining debut, The Walking Dead enjoyed major fan anticipation heading into its sophomore season.

In stark contrast to Season 1’s eventful, suspenseful journey through a deadly, zombie-infested Atlanta, Season 2 takes a seat and never quite gets up again. The surviving cast arrive at Herschel’s farm, a quaint location far away from much of the action that energised Season 1.

Although it boasts some interesting character development, Season 2 winds up feeling slow and plodding much of the time. Many episodes drift by with ample soap opera drama interrupted by brief ad breaks of zombified gore. While the final two episodes deliver the goods and set the pace for a considerably more action-packed Season 3, it is a case of too little, too late.

Despite many of the characters being likeable, Season 2’s decompressed pace revealed many of them weren’t hugely interesting in the absence of horror either.
