8 Fears When Watching Classic Doctor Who With Your Partner

3. "You're A Very Confusing Person To Be With, Doctor, You Know That?"

Confusion. Yes indeed, a common malady which can so often befall those new to classic Doctor Who. The nature of television during the heyday of the classic era meant that key story points were often explained in a single line or look to the camera, making it all too easy to miss important information and misunderstand the motives behind certain actions.

This can often result in moments where you have to pause the DVD to explain what you already know due to repeat viewings. A totally understandable reaction but one which can become somewhat irksome when the pause button begins to wear out midway through The Trial of a Time Lord.

As ever, patience is the watch word. If your partner can focus on what is unfolding on screen, all should be well and, if you need to pause once in a while... well, so be it.

Furthermore, this confusion comes out of a place of trying to understand the world you are so clearly devoted to, a gesture all Doctor Who fans can appreciate.
