3. DirecTV's "Petite" Randy Moss
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dkqFGNwxdw Short jokes. According to some comedians (and advertising agents who think they're comedians), they're the last bastion of this overly PC world we now live in. After all, what are short people on this earth for, if not to be used for our own personal amusement? Although the DirecTV ads starring Rob Lowe successfully built on those old "I'm a Mac...and I'm a PC" commercials that contrasted the various "hipness" of computers, once the satellite television company dumped Rob Lowe in favor of various sports stars, the ads started to go downhill pretty quickly. The low point has to be this "Petite" Randy Moss version. The former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver steps in as the face of coolness to explain why having cable is as ineffectual as the group of "petite" people the ad is lampooning. It's also painfully obvious that the creative team behind this commercial started out using the phrase "short Randy Moss," but were forced to change it, lest they offend people in the most efficient way possible. So they simply swapped out the term with the most baffling entry from their thesaurus and went ahead with the idea.
