8 TV Character Changes That Worked Perfectly

1. American Dad - Roger Smith

The Walking Dead Carol
Fox

The earlier episode dynamics of American Dad focused primarily on the Smith family, with Roger The Alien seemingly getting into nonsensical hijinks up in the attic.

It all changed once Roger discovered clothes and wigs, and forges his own disguises so he can go out in public. It is this formula that gets experimented with as the series progresses, taking a lot of focus away from the Smith family at times and paying close attention to the clever detail that goes into Roger Smith.

As the series progressed the disguises and personas became more elaborate; the uniforms Roger puts on carry with them an idea that can drive the plot forward or hinder the Smiths for comedic effect.

With Roger taking on an array of personas, his disguises aren't just a way for him to be included in escapades outside the Smith house but at times a driving force for many of the events that occur. Roger is the blank slate of the show; a "guest character" every episode, with a whole new wacky name and persona that is certain to gel seamlessly with the Smiths.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
