Sleepy Hollow is an American supernatural dramatic series that's loosely based on the short story The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Iving. It essentially focuses on the spooky antics of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, primarily Death, who is manifested as the Headless Horseman.

Sleepy Hollow started out strong, but during its second season major cracks began to show as ratings dipped lower and lower. It was almost a certainty that Sleepy Hollow wouldn't make it to a third season, yet Fox decided to pump a lot of money into the property in an attempt to revitalize it and restore some of the initial hype.

But ratings across the third season's eighteen episodes steadily declined, with the premiere pulling in only a third of what the first season achieved (nor was the finale's ratio much better). The effort to popularize the show having failed, 2016 is definitely the year that Sleepy Hollow gets some long overdue rest.
