9 Awful TV Characters We're Supposed To Root For

3. Elliot Reid - Scrubs

Friends Ross and Rachel
Disney-ABC

Why is it that every time Elliot opens her mouth to offer a retort to someone else at Sacred Heart who just (quite accurately) called her out on her s--t, she looks like someone who just smelled a fart, is afraid of someone blaming said fart on her, and then immediately tries to blame that fart on the person who called her out?

Seriously, though, is there a more defensive person in the history of television comedy? Dr. Reid shares more than a few of Rachel Green's worst traits, not least of which is her insufferable on-again, off-again relationship with J.D. Their relationship is perhaps the second or third most important aspect of the show, so we're told. And yet, Elliot pretty much treats J.D. like garbage much of the time.

Remember when she cheated on her long distance boyfriend, Sean, with J.D. in Season 3? And then quite literally moments after finishing the deed, Sean shows up at the door, and she just...goes back with him. And when J.D. expresses his hurt and anger at what she's done, she acts like he's out of line. This is the kind of sh*t she consistently pulls, and it makes her almost unbearable at times.

Why would we want them to end up together? Are we supposed to hate J.D. that much?
