9. Tudor Codpieces Were Far Larger Than Those Used In The Show...

Tudor codpieces were all about show - the flap which covered the front of a man's nether regions were usually huge during Tudor times in order to accentuate a their genital area. Despite this, the makers of Wolf Hall deliberately reduced the size of the codpiece used in the show - in order not to offend American viewer. Mark Rylance, who played Cromwell, admitted that "very small codpieces that can be tucked away" were deliberately used because people in America "may not know exactly what's going on down there". Who knew that Americans were offended by such things?
