9 Unmissable New TV Shows Starring Doctor Who Actors

9. Safe House

Doctor Who fans were left disheartened when Christopher Eccleston declined his invitation to return for the show's 50th anniversary festivities back in 2013 but at least there's still plenty of him to go around... and then some! Later this year he'll be heading to a cinema near you in the crime thriller Legend alongside Tom Hardy but he won't be abandoning the small screen completely because you'll also be able to catch him in the compelling new series, Safe House, which begins on ITV soon. Based on true events, the Ninth Doctor star portrays Robert in the 4-part drama, a retired policeman who is unexpectedly thrust back into the criminal world when he and his wife, Katy, turn their remote Lake District B&B into a safe house (hence the title!) for protected witnesses and crime victims. It certainly sounds gritty and with genuine twists to keep you guessing right to the end, Christopher won't be the only familiar face for Doctor Who fans to keep an eye out for. Paterson Joseph, who guest starred in the Series 1 finale, Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways as Rodrick, stars as Richard's close friend and former colleague, Mark, while Peter Ferdinando, also known as the Half-Face Man in the Series 8 premiere Deep Breath, is also part of the cast ensemble.
