9 Reasons Doctor Who Flux Could Be The Best New Who Series

4. Not Knowing What's Coming Next.

Under Moffat, Doctor Who leaks occurred all the time. We knew characters were coming or going way in advance. We found out major plot details by accident through spoilers online and set reports as the internet became more accessible and continued to grow.

Under Chibnall there has been a lot less of that. How he's done it is anyone's guess, but it's been a welcome change. This secrecy has been a major part in keeping us on our toes and getting us hyped. Of course, small inevitable leaks like the return of classic Sontarans helped to build hype. We still knew nothing of major plot developments, which keeps things fresh and exciting.

This season feels so good because it's so big and bold, yet we know nothing. It feels like back in the golden age of New Who when we'd be completely clueless and have to wait for answers. It's a feeling that's been missing for a very long time and as stressful as it is waiting week to week with these torturous cliffhangers, it evokes a feeling of nostalgia which makes it easier to deal with. It's almost comforting.

This is how Doctor Who should be.

Simon is a writer, cat dad and presenter of a geeky radio show with his husband. He loves Doctor Who (except 10 who can get in the bin…only joking.) He idolises Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Lara Croft and would 100% be a Sith Lord in a galaxy far, far away. He wishes life was like a musical so he’d actually be a good singer.
