Doctor Who: 20 Things You Didn’t Know About A Christmas Carol
4. The New Production Designer Had A Who Connection
There's been a lot of chat about sets on this list, so it's high time the man who was in charge of designing them got a name check.
Michael Pickwoad joined Doctor Who as its production designer following the departure of Edward Thomas, who had been part of the show since its return in 2005. No pressure then.
Luckily, Pickwoad was in a great position to take the reins, as Doctor Who was in his blood.
His father, an actor named William Mervyn, played Sir Charles Summer in the 1966 First Doctor serial The War Machines.
Pickwoad also passed the Doctor Who bug down to his children, as his daughter Katie painted the portraits of Elliot Sardick and Abigail. One of Michael's other daughters, Amy Pickwoad, has also worked as an art director on Doctor Who.
Isn't that just the cutest thing?
