Agents Of SHIELD: 10 Things That Need To Happen In Season 3

5. Look To The Comics

Agents Of SHIELD Inhumans

The influence of the Marvel comics is being felt more strongly in Agents Of SHIELD season three with the aforementioned Secret Warriors. But up until this point, the namesake comic adventures of SHIELD have been all but ignored; admittedly, partially because they usually star Nick Fury, and Samuel L Jackson doesn't make a TV salary.

He makes a movie star salary.

Still, there are plenty of more concepts and stories from the comics that involve other characters (especially since Agent Coulson was introduced not long after his appearance in the first Iron Man film), or could perhaps be retrofitted so that somebody else takes the lead role that would otherwise be taken by Fury.

Jim Steranko is the premiere Nick Fury: Agent Of SHIELD writer/artist, his stories full of wacky James Bond-style global espionage stories that would make for a much more exciting third season. The ideal would be a Secret Avengers adaptation which, in the most recent comics, had a SHIELD team fighting aliens, assassins, and post-modern fiction.
