Ahsoka Episode 1 Review - 7 Ups & 2 Downs

2. Up - The Master And The Apprentice

Ahsoka Episode 1 Master and Apprentice
Lucasfilm

Episode one was titled ‘Master and Apprentice’ for a reason, and though those exact words were spoken in reference to Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati, the titular characters are Ahsoka and Sabine. This has been built from the final scenes of the Rebels finale five years ago.

The two headed off together at the end of the series, and now have split again after what appears to have been a rather tumultuous relationship. Details are scarce for the time being, though the relationship is sure to be expanded on further, but this could be one of the best aspects of the series moving forward.

Certainly, Ahsoka and Sabine’s connection was the most compelling part of the pilot episode. The two have a past, but there is obviously a lot of love between them, and the chemistry between Rosario Dawson and Natasha Liu Bordizzo is undeniable. Clearly, Ahsoka taught Sabine a lot during their time together, and so the mystery of exactly what happened between them will be interesting to explore.

There have been plenty of incredible duos throughout Star Wars to carry the title of Master and Apprentice, but Ahsoka and Sabine have every chance to climb pretty damn high on that list.
