Amazon's Lord Of The Rings: 10 Things Fans Demand

3. Elrond And Elros

The Lord Of The Rings Elrond Hugo Weaving
New Line Cinema/Warner Bros. Pictures

Elrond has already had his fair share of on screen appearances; the master of Rivendell has offered refuge to almost every main character in his depictions. If you haven't delved deep into the lore of LOTR, it might have passed you by that Elrond had a brother; Elros.

Both brothers were actually only half-elven, and their lineage gave them the choice to be either elven or human. We certainly all know what Elrond picked, but his brother flew under the radar a bit more.

Elros went with his human nature, deciding to continue the line of heroic chieftains of Men from which he was descended; he sailed west to the new land of Numenor to become its first king. Without the House of Elros, we wouldn't have some major players in the Lord of the Rings.

Not only is this an interesting story integral to understanding the motives of Middle Earth's biggest names, but it would also add some credence to Arwen's own journey in the original trilogy. After all, her father has already seen his brother choose the path of men, doomed to die - the concept of his own daughter choosing the same fate must have been a bit tough to swallow.
