Amazon's Lord Of The Rings: 10 Things Fans Demand

4. Location Shooting

Nearly two decades later, Peter Jackson's films still look magical. Epic landscapes, quaint hobbit holes, majestic stone halls - everything in the original trilogy still looks truly immense. Do you know why that is? Because everything that could be was filmed on location.

The cast and crew had a daunting task in front of them when they started out, but it was totally worth it when you consider the final result... even if it did mean Sean Bean had to climb mountains in full costume due to a paralysing fear of flying.

In contrast, The Hobbit's CGI-led scenery already looks... dated. No matter how good effects are, in a few years they inevitably look shakey.

If the Amazon series' team had any sense, they'd take this advice on board: please, please, please, shoot on location. It will look better, and we'll love you for it.

There's already been confirmation that they're filming back in irl Middle Earth (New Zealand), and maybe some new locations have been scouted out in places like Scotland and elsewhere in Europe. As long as there's some nice mountains, I'm sure we'll be golden.
