3. Wicked Wolf Finances With Wolves
Unfortunately, dying dogs are often used to score some cheap laughs. Back in series one a puppy is mauled to death but this time we hear it instead of seeing it. Roger finds a wolf and decides to bring it home as a pet, but when the wolf hears barking in the neighbourhood it breaks off its chain and runs out Steve's window while he's asleep. It starts attacking a dog and the viewers' know this is the case because we can hear the puppy yelping. And just to confirm it is indeed what we think, we then see the puppy, which is now covered in blood, try to climb through Steve's window to escape its torture, but is dragged back down by the wolf. After the bloodbath the wolf climbs back through the window and shakes blood all over a sleeping Steve and his bed. The point of the scene was to make Steve think he did it, because he had been attacked by a wolf earlier in the episode and he presumed he would turn into one. And while we all got the set up, this scene definitely could have been left out. There are other ways the show got this idea across and this awful act wasn't required. Especially when at one stage we see the poor puppy almost begging for its life. Ok, dog rant over... I promise.
