American Horror Story: 7 Suggestions For Where Season 3 Should Be Set

6. Slave Ship

The thing is with "American Horror Story" is that the theme and setting has to be routed in American tradition. American Horror Story for example couldn't suddenly be set in Ancient China, as awesome as that would be, because that would absolutely not be American. America, as with most nations on the planet, has a lot of dark and shameful history, and America particularly is known for the history the country has with slavery, and the black civil rights movement for example. Wouldn't it be an awesome change of pace for American Horror Story to be set on a haunted slave ship in the 1700s transporting African Slaves to America? This idea could be awesome for so many reasons, although there are issues which are standing in its way of ever seeing the light of day. This idea could be awesome because it could be cool to mix the two cultures that would be involved on the Slave Ship- that of those upper-class men and women who live in America, and the Slaves, torn from their African homeland. Africa is known for it's tribes, and often tribes are associated with beliefs in ancient spirits and magical and mystical forces. What if the Slaves brought with them an ancient African curse that began to haunt the Slave Ship, torturing and tormenting the Slave Owners, perhaps even raising a few of the spirits of slaves that were killed from their graves to enact bloody revenge. Also, American Horror Story likes to mix different time periods, usually having a time zone set in the present with one set in the past. This idea could allow the main story to be set on a stranded haunted Slave Ship out at see, whilst a separate storyline could run in the 1960s in America and follow the struggles for Black Civil rights at the time. One downside of this idea is that although it would be fairly easy to create, as most of the story would take place on a ship, most of the actors Ryan Murphy likes to reuse for key roles are white, and the majority of the cast for this idea would need to be black. That said, this would be an awesome way to help diversity the series, which is an odd thing to have to accuse Ryan Murphy of considering Glee is often criticized for being too diverse.
