American Horror Story: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best (So Far)
3. Season One: Murder House
Setting the foundation for the various stories to come, Murder House is set around the Harmon Family, who have moved across country to escape a blip in their personal lives, as they come to realise their new home is harbouring a series of dark and troubling secrets.
As with many seasons to come, Murder House has plenty of mystery, murder and mayhem to go around, and features some of the show's most truly effective twists and revelations. Evan Peters is iconic as twisted antagonist Tate Langdon, Frances Conroy is cruel and hilarious as maid Moira, and Jessica Lange steals the show as the brilliant Constance.
Along with featuring some of the show's most memorable characters, Murder House's critical and audience reception is the reason we've been able to enjoy so much of Ryan Murphy's deliciously dark ideas, and not once does the show's debut season tone itself down or worry about pushing the boundaries of television.
When a season is as great as this one, it's impossible not to want more.
