American Horror Story: Sarah Paulson's Characters Ranked WORST To BEST

Enter Paulson's most despicable and genuinely evil character. Wilhemina Venable remains Paulson's only major antagonist (not including her brief stint as Susan Atkins), and the results are to die for.

Venable is a bloodcurdling blast to watch. She runs Outpost 3, a bunker housing a handful of survivors of the end of the world, and does so with an iron grip, enjoying every second of her power. Enforcing strict rules and harbouring an intimidating screen presence, she is one of the show's best-ever villains.

Paulson rarely plays the bad guy in AHS, preferring to stick to more genuine but troubled heroes, but with Venable she proves able to hold her own as a character fans wouldn't dare root for. The only negative of the character is the fact that she's barely around, and once she's gone she's forgotten and ends up a wasted opportunity.
