American Horror Story: Sarah Paulson's Characters Ranked WORST To BEST

2. Cordelia Goode (Coven/Apocalypse)

Sarah Paulson American Horror Story
FX

Cordelia Goode is the headmistress of Miss Robichaux's Academy, an all-girls school for witchcraft. Powerful and wise, she is easily Paulson's most endearing and genuinely likeable character, a witch who cares deeply for the girls in her life (save maybe her bitter mother) and is immeasurably loyal to her coven and her friends.

The daughter of former Supreme Witch Fiona Goode, she has a volatile relationship with her mother but her loyalty to her work allows her to stay around, knowing Fiona is needed to keep the school safe.

During Coven, she is blinded, works tirelessly to save the other witches from the amassing darkness around them, and eventually becomes the coven's new Supreme. In Apocalypse, she reappears as the ultimate beacon of hope, ready to face down the end of the world. In her final moments, she gives her life to see the apocalypse reversed and the world saved.

Cordelia was fantastic to watch - moral, inspiring and intelligent, and she never once disappointed. With her compassion and her compelling arc, she's really Paulson's best character. Well, almost...
