Arrow Season 7: 10 Reasons It Should Be The Last

5. Most Characters Have Gone As Far As They Can Go

Arrow Season 7
The CW

Six years is a long time to be on the air. In that time, Star City has seen a wide array of core characters come and go as Arrow constantly tried to update itself. Unfortunately, it wasn't always successful, and the main reason for that isn't necessarily down to a failed reinvention, it's down to the characters that we are left with.

As things change around them, these characters stay the same, and not in a good way. On paper, they're great protagonists, but in reality, not so much. Oliver is a hypocrite. Diggle is a hypocrite. Felicity is a hyprocrite. These characters have become parodies of what they once were and are seemingly destined to recycle the same narratives from years gone by, highlighting that they have learned absolutely nothing. Moreover, newcomers Dinah, Rene and Curtis haven't been given the chance to make a mark on the show, but after their actions last season, that may actually be a good thing.

With the exception of Earth-2 Laurel and Roy Harper, every character on the show has gone as far as they can go (and considering, three of said characters have only been part of the show for two years, that's not good). The veterans are stuck in an endless loop while the newcomers have quickly grown stale. So, unless Season 7 can really turn things around for these once-great characters, perhaps it's time to put them out of their misery once and for all.
