Arrow Season 8 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Reset'

3. The Team We Always Needed

There was something cathartic about the fact that it was only Oliver Queen and Laurel Lance who found themselves trapped in a time-loop because it meant that we got an entire episode devoted to a team-up between Green Arrow and Black Canary. Though that shouldn't sound alien considering the duo are one of the most iconic couples in comic book history, Arrow's constant subversion of what the people actually wanted to see throughout its run prevented us from getting that.

Yes, Oliver and Laurel's mission in 'Reset' revolved around the pair learning something, but if we learned anything from the episode, it's that Arrow itself would have greatly benefitted from this pairing if it had stuck its course all those years ago. No team, no capers and no relationship drama, just two well-developed heroes attempting to get to the surprisingly grounded root of their problems.

Not only was it great to see the show's leading man Stephen Amell once again work with leading lady Katie Cassidy in such a one-on-one environment, the visual of Green Arrow and Black Canary working together on such an important mission was one that made the fans' comic book-loving hearts so happy.

This is what we should have had from the very beginning.
