Arrow: 14 Deleted Scenes You Need To See

5. Malcolm Merlyn: Doting Dad

https://youtu.be/34VaBoen8oQ?t=47s Malcolm Merlyn isn't the easiest character to work out. He was a villain in Season 1, but not an entirely evil one. Since his return from the dead, he has worked for and against Team Arrow: training Thea, but then using her to kill Sara, and then helping them out against the League. It's generally doing whatever serves his own ends, but he has moments that suggest he isn't all that bad, and he's certainly one of the more complex characters around on the show. That's particular evident in this scene, which comes after Thea has been 'killed' by Ra's al Ghul. Although Felicity tells him exactly what she thinks of him, he shrugs that off to focus on his daughter, and looks every bit the caring father you can't really imagine him as. He's visibly emotional, and gives a heartfelt speech about how she'll be in a better place with Moira and Tommy. It shows us another side to Malcolm, and further clouds whether we're meant to see him as a good guy or a bad one.
