Batwoman Season 1 Premiere: 7 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Pilot'

3. A Great Villain

Batwoman Alice
The CW

Even with the brilliant Rachel Skarsten in the role, there were initially concerns that Alice wouldn't be, well, crazy enough. The character is downright unhinged in the comics and has absolutely no qualms about sinking to the lowest of depths to achieve her goals - a bit like the Clown Prince Of Crime himself.

However, the trailer presented her as a more relaxed and less dangerous crime boss. While she is indeed all of those things in the show, she's also a lot more than the preview gave her credit for.

A highly active antagonist, she was fully involved in the pilot's narrative and, through her confusing Alice In Wonderland-themed dialogue, successfully managed to use her apparent brand of 'crazy' in a very intimidating fashion.

Every Bat-Family member needs a Joker to overcome, and Kate Kane has found her's in Alice. That said, the most interesting part of their relationship is the fact that the two may be more involved than the hero ever thought.
