Better Call Saul: 10 Best Characters Only In One Episode

6. Ed Galbraith - Magic Man (S5E1)

On the surface, Ed Galbraith is a vacuum repairman. But behind the scenes, he runs a clandestine operation where he uses his resources to give his clients new identities. When Walter White got exposed in Breaking Bad, he got into contact with Ed, hoping to start anew.

Because the actor, Robert Forster, passed away in October 2019, it was assumed we wouldn't see him again in the Breaking Bad universe. But just before he died, he filmed a key scene in Better Call Saul, which served as the opening for Season 5. In the sequence, Jimmy is trying to live his life as his assigned identity, Gene Takavic. But after being recognised, Jimmy calls Ed, asking for another alias. Even though their entire conversation is in code, it's clear what they are talking about.

Despite speaking in a calm, monotonous tone, Forster is able to convey a ton of emotion as this character. You can tell Ed is a highly cautious man who has done this sort of work for many years. His appearance lasts less than two minutes but Forster's brilliant performance allows this moment to be among the show's most memorable scenes.
