Better Call Saul: 10 WORST Things Jimmy Has Done
3. Defending Lalo Salamanca
Who could ever have imagined that we would find another member of the Salamanca family who was more scarier than Hector, or Tuco, or the Cousins Leonel and Marco? Needless to say, all of our expectations have been exceeded with Lalo Salamanca.
Lalo is a sadistic murderer like his uncle Hector, he’s ruthless, has an eye for detail and surprisingly is responsible for Hector’s iconic bell.
Jimmy is understandably reluctant to get involved with the cartel, but after his previous case with Natcho, he was always under his radar. When he is brought in to initially help Krazy-8 get out of trouble with the DEA, and later to defend Lalo in his murder charge against the innocent bystander Fred at the Travel Wire, Jimmy has unknowingly helped let loose a very dangerous individual.
Jimmy does have the chance to be free from Lalo, but pushes his luck when he agrees to get his $7 million cash bail money, a journey that leads him to getting ambushed, shot at, traipsing in the scorching desert for days without water, and unknowingly worries Kim to reveal herself to Lalo, putting her life in as much danger as his own.
As traumatised as Jimmy seems after this ordeal, especially after Lalo turns up in his and Kim’s flat threatening them, we know this experience does not deter Jimmy away from this life. We know in Breaking Bad he often aids Mike and therefore helps Gus with their own criminal schemes and it seems he has no problem helping them as long as he gets a cut of the profit, even though he knows first hand what the cartel can do.
