Breaking Bad fans took a sharp intake of breath when Lalo Salamanca appeared on the scene towards the end of Better Call Saul's fourth season. After all, the first line Saul Goodman utters after being kidnapped by Walter and Jesse is "Did Lalo send you?" Many believe the line implies that Lalo and Jimmy McGill are on a collision course for which Kim may be collateral damage.

It added unbearable tension to those fifth season scenes where Kim and Lalo face off. By the end of the fifth season finale Something Unforgivable, Lalo is aware that he's been betrayed and is seeking vengeance. On the surface, it doesn't bode well for Kim and Jimmy/Saul.

But think about the line. "Did Lalo send you?" It suggests that Saul Goodman is still waiting on the violent retribution of his former client. If Lalo had been responsible for Kim's death, would Goodman have really stayed in Albuquerque, advertising his presence on bus ads and benches?

It's far more likely that Lalo's vengeance will be directed towards Gus, Mike and Nacho. Whatever Lalo does, it will reverberate around Albuquerque and hang over Saul Goodman, rather than directly affect him.
