The Big Bang Theory: 12 Recurring Things That Need To Die

2. Howard€™s Doctorate

Howard is an astronaut, world renowned engineer and was even so well thought of that Stephen Hawking€™s team specifically asked for him. He also married an incredibly intelligent and beautiful woman in Bernadette, who also seems to have more money than him. But he€™s always chastised and derided for not having a doctorate. Now, either someone should give him an honorary one on he should go out and get one. Possibly funnier would be if it was awarded from M.I.T. or Cal. Tech. for his work on the space-toilet or telescope. Howard is actually the most masculine character on the show, he is charming and funny as well as being a little sad Jewish boy who is scared of his Mum and wife. He even has an allowance. Seriously? A grown man who has an allowance? Yes he spent too much money on the 3D printer and Bernadette was right to say no to it, there would also have been a very serious discussion around what the joint account was for. But no married man would accept being given an allowance, or at least not for long. The Doctorate is just yet another example of things Howard gets picked on for and while picking on the geek might have been funny for the jocks at school, it€™s not supposed to be the point of the show.

I.T. Consultant, technophile and Doctor Who fan. I like to talk about tech, take films apart and make excuses for Doctor Who's continuity errors. No other show has the power to make me feel like a big kid.
