Bob Day Afternoon is a brilliant parody of the crime drama movie Dog Day Afternoon, right down to how the Oceanside Savings bank is laid out the same way as the one in the 1975 movie. Bob starts off the day by paying a simple visit to the bank, and by the end, he's in the middle of a hostage situation.

Bob Day Afternoon works well because it provides a strong plot that has a good balance of intense unpredictability and character driven humour. From Bob being stuck in a bank with nemesis Mr Frond to Louise being fascinated by all the drama, it contains so many brilliant sub-plots. This episode is also the introduction to fan favourite character Mickey. Portrayed perfectly by Bill Hader, he's the dangerous criminal who is also generally very friendly and laid-back.
