Bob's Burgers: Every Halloween Episode Ranked Worst To Best

8. The Pumpkinening (Season 12, Episode 3)

Bob's Burgers Nightmare On Ocean Avenue Street
FOX

Linda gets her own Halloween episode this time around, as she and Gayle investigate the source of strange notes they've received in the mail. If you love Megan Mullally, or at least don't hate Gayle, the episode is at least mildly entertaining. At the very least, it contains a bit more action and some better one-liners than the previous episodes on this list.

Mostly, however, the mystery regarding Gayle and Linda's accidental sabotage of a high school pumpkin carving contest doesn't hold much interest. Little of the humor comes from the actual story, and almost all of it comes from other characters' unintentional Gayle-bashing or Gayle's very intentional Linda-bashing. Otherwise, the biggest laugh-out-loud moment belongs to new character Dane Kang, whose innocently misguided approach to life coaching might actually make for some great stories in the future should the character ever return.

Probably the episode's greatest flaw is the unapologetic sidelining of pretty much every series mainstay besides Gayle and Linda. Not only do we see almost no familiar minor characters besides Gayle, we also have to suffer through a completely phoned-in B-story about Bob handing out candy while the kids watch from a booth. Their costumes are pretty nifty, but that only makes it worse that we see so little of them.
