BoJack Horseman Season 6: 7 Things It Must Do
4. Make The F Bomb Count
BoJack has always used the F-bomb efficiently. Rather than sprayed around with Scorcese like panache, BoJack Horseman only utilises the F-bomb once per season. It’s usually symbolic of a fractured relationship, one BoJack can never repair. The first two seasons had it dropped by Herb and Charlotte. These two were big figures in BoJack’s life before the show began, but not particularly major in the show’s arc. Season 3 though saw Todd say the F word to devastating effect, and the show followed through, forever changing BoJack and Todd’s dynamic.
By Season 4, the trope was well enough established for them to invert it. BoJack planned to use it on his mother, only to decide instead to use her brief flash of lucidity to offer her comfort. Season 5 though was a slight regression. By giving it to Gina, they went for a similar style to Seasons 1 & 2. It definitely fit the situation, given that he’d just strangled her, but didn’t have the weight of 3 & 4.
Diane, Mr Peanutbutter and Princess Carolyn would all need to earn saying it, but the power of it used properly would be huge. Hollyhock saying it would be especially shocking.
