Breaking Bad: 10 Best Musical Moments

4. Tuco Beats A Man To Death - Gnarls Barkley, 'Who's Gonna Save My Soul?'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nvqiwGCNx0 Gnarls Barkley's a name you probably haven't heard for a while; 'Crazy' was huge but a long time ago now, and Cee Lo Green's more famous for his solo work. Still, that distinctive growl could be heard loud and clear in the first season finale of Breaking Bad, as Tuco beat up a man in his crew. It's a quietly stirring piece of retro-soul; organs wail in the background and a simple acoustic plucks itself over a hip-hop beat and a Motown bass. It's a song about realising you're in too deep, apt for the scene in question, and yet it's beautiful, simplistic and gloomy. It's a fantastic way to end the series, as it paves the way for the future with an underlying pessimism; Walt and Jesse have done well to get this far, but there's a fair chance they won't get out of this alive. It's a wonderful song, almost the flipside to 'Crazy'; where that megahit was effervescent, bubbling into its titular madness, 'Who's Gonna Save My Soul?' is introspective and unsure of itself. It's a great expression of how Walt and Jesse would've felt in that scene and a great moment in the show.
